Your vehicle may take longer than normal to engage or is shifting with a noticeable thunk, jerk, or hesitation.
You may have noticed fluid underneath the vehicle or around the transmission. Typically, transmission fluid can range from bright red to dark red or brown depending on its condition and age.
Your vehicle may shake, vibrate, or feel like it’s briefly driving over a rough surface, usually during acceleration or while the transmission is changing gears.
The engine may be revving up without the vehicle speeding up like it should, or you may feel a brief loss of power before it catches again.
A warning light or message may appear when the vehicle detects a transmission-related issue, such as “Transmission Fault,” “Service Transmission,” or a flashing check engine light. If one appears, have the vehicle checked to determine what triggered the warning.
You may hear whining, humming, clunking, or grinding sounds coming from the transmission, especially when accelerating or shifting gears.
